CARPATHCC WORKSHOP in SOVATA
The 2nd CarpathCC Workshop was organised in Sovata, 21-22 March 2013 for the Romanian and Serbian stakeholders to discuss the presented adaption measures related to climate change in the Carpathian Region, focusing on selected focal areas in Romania and Serbia.
The aim of the workshop was to introduce the program’s initial results and recommendations to the stakeholders in the concerned focal areas and provided opportunity to discuss the findings with the researchers. Their feedback will be integrated into the project's final results. Stakeholders from
- the Rodna and Maramures mountain areas (National Parks),
- Tarnava Mare Area (Segesvar-Sighisoara, Targu Mures-Marosvasarhely),
- Iron Gates National Park and
- Djerdap National Park
represented the State, the civilian organisations, communities and market players.
Expert panel focusing on the above focal areas examined the vulnerability of forests and grasslands to climate change, as well as its long term impacts on tourism, forestry and agriculture.
At the workshop at the end of March the following institutions were present: Environmental Protection Agency Caras-Severin, National Forest Administration Romsilva, WWF – România, National Administration of Water SGA Mures, Environmental Protection Agency Mureş, Maramures Mountains National Park, Piatra Craiului National Park, Cheile Bicazului – Hăşmaş National Park Administration, Iron Gates National Park, Djerdap National Park, Babes-Bolyai University.
