CARPATHCC WORKSHOP in SOVATA

 

The 2nd CarpathCC Workshop was organised in Sovata, 21-22 March 2013 for the Romanian and Serbian stakeholders to discuss the presented adaption measures related to climate change in the Carpathian Region, focusing on selected focal areas in Romania and Serbia.

The aim of the workshop was to introduce the program’s initial results and recommendations to the stakeholders in the concerned focal areas and provided opportunity to discuss the findings with the researchers. Their feedback will be integrated into the project's final results. Stakeholders from

  • the Rodna and Maramures mountain areas (National Parks),
  • Tarnava Mare Area (Segesvar-Sighisoara, Targu Mures-Marosvasarhely),
  • Iron Gates National Park and
  • Djerdap National Park

represented the State, the civilian organisations, communities and market players.

Expert panel focusing on the above focal areas examined the vulnerability of forests and grasslands to climate change, as well as its long term impacts on tourism, forestry and agriculture.

At the workshop at the end of March the following institutions were present: Environmental Protection Agency Caras-Severin, National Forest Administration Romsilva, WWF – România, National Administration of Water SGA Mures, Environmental Protection Agency Mureş, Maramures Mountains National Park, Piatra Craiului National Park, Cheile Bicazului – Hăşmaş National Park Administration, Iron Gates National Park, Djerdap National Park, Babes-Bolyai University.

CARPATHCC EGER WORKSHOP

 

The 1st CarpathCC workshop was organised for the Czech, Hungarian and Slovakian stakeholders to discuss the presented adaption measures related to the climate change in the Carpathian focusing on these focal areas. The agenda of the event is found attached.

The aim of the workshop was to introduce the program’s initial results and recommendations to the stakeholders in the concerned focal areas, and provide opportunity for them to discuss the findings with the researchers. Stakeholders in the Bükk and High Tatra mountains represented the state, the civilian organisations, communities and market players.

 

The workshop in Egerszalok, 24-25 January 2013 focused on introducing preliminary results and proposed adaptation measures in Bükk and High Tatra Mountains to the Slovak, Czech and Hungarian stakeholders. The conference gave an opportunity to discuss these results and give feedback for further consideration.

At the workshop, the following institutions were presented: Bükk National Park Directorate, National Environmental Institution’s Office for North Hungary, the Slovak Ministry of Water and Environmental Protection, Global Changes Research Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the State Forest of Tatra National Park.

Scientific workshop in Stara Lesná, Slovakia

The main aim of this workshop was to introduce the project and to invite such as scientists, representatives from policy, economy, and management interested in the Carpathian Mountains which is relevant to the CarpathCC as well. Also relevant and important discussions can be made and information can be collected amongst the participants. The workshop was held as a side-event of Forum Carpathicum where the CARPIVIA Project - that is closely related to CarpathCC project - was presented. Also a fine-tuning meeting was held amongst SR leaders here to make the preparation work of the workshops.
